Add page, content and menu in Drupal 7

At our previous tutorial we have described about Drupal 7 installation, configuration, and basic setup. In this tutorial we will discuss about creation of page, content and menu in Drupal 7. You will learn how to add content to a Drupal site. Now let’s start our step by step tutorial.

Basically Drupal have two type of content, one is Article and another is Basic page. You can think content in Drupal as a page. Every contents has their own menu link and URL path.

Before begin the tutorial, at first login as a user who have rights to add content in Drupal administration panel. Once you logged in successfully, the following screen would be appear at your browser.

Step1:

Click on the Content link from the top navigation panel or in the task tab. Also you can click on the Add content link from the navigation panel under the top navigation panel.

Step2:

If you clicked on Content link, you would be redirected to the content page and you should click on Add content link from the above of the contents list.

If you clicked on the Add content, content adding page will be appear.

Step3:

Now Content type will be listed. Article type is used for add content to page. Basic page is used for content type add page and add content to that page. Click on the Basic page link.

Step4:

Enter page title, page content and other details. If you want to use HTML in page content then change “Text format” value to Full HTML.

Step5:

In Menu settings section, check Provide a menu link option and enter the Menu link title.

Step6:

Go to the URL path settings section and enter url path alias name.

Step7:

Click on the Save button and you would be redirected to the front view of the newly created page. Also you can see the new menu link at header navigation.

Manage Content:

Click on the Content link from the admin navigation menu bar. In this page you can manage contents.
